About Jennifer
Jennifer Harshman helps authors, experts, coaches, entrepreneurs, and other leaders turn their knowledge and experience into clear, useful content that serves their audiences, attracts the right clients, and repels the wrong ones.
Experience
Jennifer began helping others with their writing in the 1980s and started editing professionally in 1992. She later built HarshmanServices, a boutique writing-and-editing agency. For decades, she served several small presses and helped thousands of people become authors.
Her specialty is finding the useful through-line inside a mountain of information. People come to her with scattered notes, complicated ideas, or projects they can’t quite finish. Jennifer helps them identify what matters, organize it, and turn it into something others can understand and use.
The Person Behind the Work
Jennifer holds degrees in psychology and education and homeschooled her children. Experience taught her to recognize different personalities and ways of thinking, explain complicated ideas clearly, and adapt her approach to the person in front of her.
She is also a survivor of domestic violence. Rebuilding her life has deepened her understanding of the invisible challenges people carry while trying to do meaningful work. She believes people rarely need more shame or pressure. They need someone who can see where they are trying to go and help them find a workable path forward.
The Possibility Cultivator and The Book Baker®
Today
Jennifer is known as the Possibility Cultivator because she believes there is usually a way to do what you want to do—and she is exceptionally good at helping people find it.
She is also The Book Baker®. Her philosophy is simple: if you can follow a recipe to bake a cake, you can write a helpful nonfiction book. Yes, she has used a whisk as a microphone and appeared on podcasts in full baker attire.
A voracious reader, persistent questioner, systems thinker, and professional “bottom-line-it” person, Jennifer naturally gathers scattered pieces, finds the pattern, and turns the mess into something clear and workable.
Disabled and semi-retired, Jennifer now contributes her expertise to the writing and publishing businesses her eldest son owns. Those businesses provide professional services and accept select opportunities for Jennifer.
